Mary Elizabeth (Darr) Chudzinski, 89, of Fremont died peacefully February 24, 2016 at her winter home in Sebring, Florida.
She was born July 9, 1926 in Fremont to Rudolph J and Mary E (Wasserman) Darr, the fourth of ten children. She was a 1944 graduate of St Joseph High School, a 1947 graduate of Mercy School of Nursing and a lifetime member of the Mercy Alumni Association. On November 27, 1947 she married her high school sweetheart, Robert L Chudzinski, at St Joseph Catholic Church. They enjoyed 64 years of fun filled married life, high adventures traveling the country and boating on Lake Erie.
Mary was a very energetic homemaker, gardener, baker and seamstress. She took great pride in her rose garden and blue ribbon pies. She was a long time parishioner of the former St Casimir’s Church where she served on the bereavement, cleaning and cabbage roll dinner committees and during the summer months Mary provided roses from her garden for the church’s altar bouquets.
Mary had a long and active life. Cheerleading for St Joe’s while in high school, ice skating with her children, water skiing, bowling and city-sponsored volley ball. She was an avid pinochle player, but her favorite activity was the golfing she enjoyed in her later years.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, children, Brenda A (John) Seilhamer of Xenia, Ohio, Christine M Chudzinski of Fremont, Ohio, Michael J (Sharon) Chudzinski of Fremont, Ohio and son-in-law Bruce (Donna) Pump of Oak Harbor, Ohio; eight grandchildren and soon to be eleven great-grandchildren; her sisters Roselyn Shondell and Janet Magrum and brothers, William (Agnes) Darr and Wayne (Suzanne) Darr; many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, daughter Mary Louise Pump, grandson Ryan Pump, brother John Darr and sisters Dorothy Darr, Sylvia Celek, Grace Peiffer, Celine Novitski.
Memorial contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools. A Memorial Mass to celebrate the life of Mary will be held Saturday April 9, 2016 at 10:30 at St Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont Ohio. Burial will follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery, Fremont, Ohio.
