Lester A. Dawes, Jr.

Fremont resident, Lester A. Dawes, Jr., 69, died Sat., March 26, 2016. He was born on June 23, 1946 in Sandusky to Lester A. and Dolletta (Fuller) Caldwell Dawes, Sr.

Lester graduated from Roll High School in Indiana. He worked at Whirlpool as a machinist, retiring in April 2012.

Lester was a member of the Fremont Eagles, loved to play darts, and enjoyed cooking homemade food for family members. He was often found fishing on his boat and playing cards with friends and family. Lester will be remember for his huge candy "Famous Buckeyes", which he sold to regular customers.

On May 24, 2013, Lester married Peggy J. Peck; she survives him. Also surviving are mother, Doletta Caldwell of Hartford City, IN; daughter, Samantha of Fremont; son, Michael of Fremont; step-son, Robert Griffin of Fremont; siblings, Caroline (Charles) May of IN, John (Joan) Leffingwell of FL, and Bettie Grissell of IN; special friends whom he considered family, Matt Peck, Jon Peck, Aaron Winer, Roger Burling, Ishiaha Smith, and Jon & Kevin Bogner; many nieces & nephews; and his rescue dog, Tanner.

He is preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be on Thurs., Mar. 31st from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont; where Funeral Services will be on Fri., Apr. 1 beginning at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the care of his family.
