Gary L. Mathna

Gary L. Mathna, 77, formerly of Woodville, passed away at his rural Fostoria home on Fri. April 22, 2016.

Born in Woodville on Feb. 5, 1939, Gary was a son of Chester and Gracie (Danaska) Mathna. Gary worked at Martin-Marietta, retiring in 2001.

In Roanoke, VA on Sept. 27, 1978, Gary married Doris (Donnel) Klotz, whom he had known since they were much younger. Doris passed on Jan. 23 this year.

Gary loved the outdoors and being outside, going to flea markets with Doris. He will be remembered for his calming and caring demeanor and easy-going temperament.

He is survived by step-children Jenny Lee Chapman of Tiffin and Jimmy (Brenda) Klotz of Fostoria; 17 step-grandchildren; 42 step-great,grandchildren; and 28 step-great, great, grandchildren; sisters Jeannie (Jimmy) Potridge of Woodville and Carol Wagner of Fremont.

His parents; wife, Doris; step-children Janet Browning and Joyce Hull; and brother Kent Mathna precede Gary in death.

Visitation will be Wed., Apr. 27, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg where Funeral Services will begin at noon. Rev. Phil Park-Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow at Scott Trinity Cemetery, Risingsun, OH.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Faith United Methodist Church, Gibsonburg.
