Daniel Allen Secrist

August 7, 1931 — June 19, 2016

Daniel Allen Secrist, 84, of Fremont, passed away on Father's Day, Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Parkview Care Center, Fremont. He was born on August 7, 1931 in Fremont to C. Frank and Ethel (Tucker) Secrist.


Dan graduated from Fremont Ross High School, and then joined the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 serving in Heavy Field Communications Repair. After his service, Dan ran his own grain and dairy farm while also working as a lab tech for the Pioneer Sugar Plant in Fremont.


He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Fremont and the Lindsey Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Fellow 50 Years Service award.


Dan enjoyed photography, traveling to Mexico and cruising, but especially enjoyed antique farm tractor pulling events with his favorite McCormick-Farmall 300 and Super M.


On April 14, 1956, he married Virginia Lee Walters at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Lindsey; she survives. Also surviving is son, Steven Jon Secrist; daughter, Nancy Lee Secrist and grandsons, Tim and Alex Nieset.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roger and Phillip Secrist.


A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016, 11 a.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Fremont with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Four Mile House Cemetery.
