Rural Fremont resident, Larry Robert "Big Larry" Ohms, 63, died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born on September 4, 1952 in Fremont to Robert L. & Marjorie A. (Burd) Ohms.
Larry was a 1971 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He entered the Army Reserves in January of 1972 and was honorably discharged in 1977. Larry married Kristine M. Zimmer on November 17, 1978 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fremont; where he is currently a member.
From 1970-1975, Larry worked at RJ Purdy Sales & Services as a Machinery Mechanic and was a self-employed farmer.
Larry was a life member of the Fremont VFW, a member of the Fremont Eagles and Moose, the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, and the Federal Aviation Administration as a private pilot. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping, boating, camping, going to the tractor pulls, riding motorcycles, and snowmobiling. His biggest love was farming.
Surviving Larry is his wife, Kristine; mother, Marjorie of Fremont; children, Tammie (Ivan) Langovsky of Uniontown, OH, Daniel (Dawn) Ohms of Fremont, and Korrin (Alex) Durbin of Lindsey; grandchildren, Logan, Kelsey, Taylor, Zachary, Benjamin, Luke, and Leah; and brother, Roger (Toni) Ohms of Helena.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert; and son, Larry R. Ohms, II.
Visitation will be held at the Herman- Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m..; where visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Scott Mauch will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.
