TIFFIN: William Gerald Parker, Sr., 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin. He was born on December 27, 1927 in Cook, OH to Cornelius J. & Carolina M. (Campbell) Parker.
William graduated from Washington Court House High School. He served in the U.S. Army, Armored Calvary, in Germany from 1954 to 1956.
Until his retirement in 1992, William worked in the MPL Department at Standard Products in Port Clinton. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, playing bingo at Autumnwood Care Center, and was always fascinated with flashlights and batteries. William was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and the OSU Buckeyes.
William was a former member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, Helena. On November 15, 1947, William married Beatrice Timmons in Covington, KY; she survives him.
Also surviving are children, William (Vicki) Parker, Jr. of Sycamore, Roger Parker, Sr. of Clyde, Robert J. (Cyndi) Parker, Sr. of Tampa, FL, Brenda McNutt of Fostoria, Deborah (Rich) Dickman of Clyde, Kimberly (Steve) O'Millian of Republic, and Mark Parker, I of Green Springs; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; brother, Robert Parker of Springfield, OH; and sister, Ellen Parker of Urbana. William is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald, Joe, and Emil Parker, and grandchildren, Alan and Aiken.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont; where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 3 at 10:30 a.m. An additional hour of visitation will be offered prior to the service. Rev. Erma Metzger will officiate.
On both days, the family requests wearing athletic apparel to support William's love for sports.
Burial with Military Honors provided by the Fremont American Legion will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Veterans Council, Seneca County or Tiffin All Patriots Memorial Fund.
