Harold Dean Long, 83, of Findlay passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016. He was born on December 23, 1932 in Lore City, OH to Forest and Edna (Bates) Long. Harold remained in Lore City, where he graduated from high school in 1950.
Then, on January 19, 1951 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving his country during the Korean War as a Private. Harold earned the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal and a Purple Heart recipient. He was honorably discharged on January 19, 1954.
After the service, Harold married the love of his life, June Millhon. They were joined in marriage on Valentine’s Day at the Lore City Methodist Church in 1954. Together they raised their children, Phyllis L. “Lori” Long and Ricki D. Long.
Harold worked for many years as a manager for Columbia Gas Transmission Corp. until his retirement in April of 1992. He was a true craftsman in the art of woodworking. Harold was an enthusiast of fishing, being outdoors and traveling with his family. The only thing that out shined his work was the love he shared for his family.
Surviving Harold is his son, Rick (Violet Madonia) of Las Vegas, NV; grandson, Jason (Tiffany) Kinn of Fairfield, OH; step-grandson, Corey Sabaitis; 2 step-great-granddaughters; Karysa & Kayda; Godchild; Isabella Maria Peterson; son-in-law, Cletus N (Jill) Kinn, Jr of McComb; siblings, Myra (Bud) Larrick Cambridge, OH.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Phyllis L. “Lori” Kinn; sister, Elaine Cummings; his dear wife, June and his brothers, Forest E. “Eddie” Long and Terry Long.
