Marie Ellen Lieske

February 26, 1929 — October 23, 2016

Marie Ellen (Meacham) Lieske of Fremont passed away on Sunday, 10/23/16 surrounded by those who love her. Marie was born on 2/26/1929 in Port Clinton, Ohio and was a 1947 graduate of Port Clinton High School. She married Wayne Lieske at St. John Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor. They celebrated their 65th anniversary in March of this year.

Marie was active in her church, serving as past president of Hope Circle at Grace Lutheran, was a member of Daughters Circle, and participated in many other activities over the years. She also gave her time and efforts to Lutheran Social Services, Church Women United, the American Red Cross, and Riverview Campus Auxiliary.

Marie was the loving mother of Karen (Brian) Fiske, Kay (Dale) Reiter, Kim (Joe) Buti, Kathy (Kenny) Franks, all from Fremont, and Karol (Greg) Rippberger, Martinsville, IN. She was a devoted grandmother to 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents Leola and Sheldon Meacham, sisters Alma Shiets, Verda Snider, Eileen Ontko, and brothers James Meacham and Dale Meacham, all from Port Clinton.

A memorial service and celebration of Marie’s life is scheduled for Friday, 10/28/16, at Grace Lutheran Church, Fremont. Visitation is planned for 11 AM followed by the service at noon. Instead of flowers, the family asks that contributions be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery will be at a later date. Herman-Karolvetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services has assisted Marie’s family.
