John “Johnny” McPhail, 77, of Gibsonburg was called from this life on Thurs., Oct. 27, 2016 at ProMedica Memorial Hospital.
Born in Niagara Falls, NY on June 10, 1939, Johnny was a son of the now deceased John and Emma Parker Wilson McPhail. He was known to be a hard worker and a long time semi- truck driver. He never retired and was driving for Haldon Miller Trucking up until the recent onset of illness.
Johnny was tough on the outside but had a tender heart. He loved God, his family, the Trinity United Methodist Church and its Church Praise Team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, trucking and cowboy boots.
In 1994, he married Theresa (Turpin) Holcomb in Gibsonburg. She survives. Also surviving are children Sharon (Jerry) Muncy, Deborah (Ken) Star, Robin (Steph) Zywards, Kathy and John McPhail; step children Eddie (Beverly) Muncy, Charlene (Scott) Miller, Mike (Stephanie) Holcomb, Kyle (Jennifer) Holcomb and Holly (Kevin) Stoundinger; many grand and step-grandchildren and several great and step-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Karen.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov.1, 4-7 p.m. at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Gibsonburg where Funeral Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 2, 10:30 a.m. There will be an additional hour of visitation prior to the service.
Burial will be at Quinshan Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the care of the family for funeral expenses.
