Robert J. Hovis, 65, of Tiffin formerly of Fremont, passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI on Sun., Oct. 30, 2016. He was born on Jan. 20, 1951 in Wichita, TX to Ward W. and Sophia (Stroshine) Hovis. When Robert was young his dad died, and he was raised by his step-father, Paul Naus. Robert served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War as a medic.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, being outdoors, woodworking and reading.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Larry) Young; grandchildren, Logan and Lance Young, and Kershauna Urbanik; great-grandson, Zayden Urbanik; and siblings, Rae Bruce, Frank (Emiko) Hovis, Paul (Brenda) Naus and Keith Naus. He is preceded in death by his mom, dad, and step-dad.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
A graveside service will be held at Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa on Sat., Nov. 5, 2016 beginning at 12:00p.m. Rev. Scott Mauch will officiate, and Military Rites will be held by the American Legion. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont.
