John D. Timmons

January 14, 1932 — November 25, 2016

John D. Timmons, 84, of Port Clinton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 25, 2016. He was born on January 14, 1932 in Fremont to Wilmer E. and Mayme (Majeski) Timmons. John attended Jackson Burgoon Schools. He served our country during the Korean War in the Army branch, stationed in Fort Hood, TX as a tanker.

 

He was a machine repairman for many years at Standard Products in Port Clinton retiring in 1980. John was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Port Clinton Elks, and the Port Clinton Senior Center. He enjoyed farming until 1957, and spending time with his family at Tall Timbers Campground, which the family originally built and owned.

John married Helen Mae Sebring on January 12, 1952 at United Brethren Church, Burgoon. They shared 56 years of marriage until her passing on December 19, 2008. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

 

Surviving are children, Dan (Patricia) Timmons of Port Clinton, Wilmer Edward (Debra) Timmons of Berlin Heights, Johnette (Steve) Cellier of Port Clinton, Dave Galliher of Oak Harbor, John (Amy) Timmons of Port Clinton, and Terry Blair of Oak Harbor; thirteen grandchildren, Dan, Becky, Ron, Joey, Marikate, Matthew, Meaghan, Christopher, Jason, Mellisa, Andrea, Krista, and John; great-grandson, Henry; siblings, Beatrice Parker, and Rosalyn McCawley; and special friend, Nancy Scott. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen Mae; daughter, Charlotte Galliher; and siblings, Homer Timmons, Betty Gardner, Robert Timmons, Norma Ross, Marian Heppner, Donald Timmons, Virginia Behnke, and Nancy Phillips.

 

Visitation will be on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 1-7 p.m. at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ted Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, Port Clinton.
