Fremont resident, Ruby L. Hurlbut, 86, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 26, 2016. She was born on November 23, 1930 to William and Gladys (Elswick) Shortridge in Mouthcard, KY.
Ruby was an assembler at Ford Motor Company in Sandusky for 40 years. She retired January 1, 1997. She was a member of the UAW and the Senior Center. Ruby enjoyed gardening, canning and most of all, spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Donna (Robert) Leaser of Berlin Heights, Bill Yoder of Vickery, Steven (Cathy) Yoder of Vickery, Jackie Miller of Coshocton, John and Jim Hurlbut of Fremont, and Jeff Hurlbut of Oak Harbor; siblings, Ray (Patsy) Shortridge Abingdon, VA, Betty Parker of Clyde, and Ron (Nancy) Shortridge of Marysville; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Roy Shortridge and Nell Justice.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 12:00 p.m. with an hour of visitation being held an hour prior to the start of the service. Rev. Walker Horne will officiate Burial will follow at McGormley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice.
