Rural Fremont resident, Carolyn Smith, 75, passed away at her home Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016.
Born in Woodville on Oct. 16, 1941, Carolyn was a daughter of Carl and Nora (Schwartzwalder) Geldin. She graduated from Fremont Ross High in 1959 and later attended accounting courses at Terra Community College. On Oct. 17, 1959, she married Kenneth Smith at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fremont. Kenny survives.
Carolyn was devoted to her husband, children and grandkids. She enjoyed spending time with family as well as reading, cross stitching, fishing and gambling trips. Carolyn will also be remembered as working as a clerk at the former Great Scot Supermarket in Fremont where she retired in 1997; and as a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fremont.
Also surviving are children Kristopher (Kathy) Smith of Dublin, OH, Kassi (Steve) Stotz of Fremont and Kelli (Nicolas) Fernandez-Medina of State College, PA; grandchildren Kael & Kate Smith, Grant & Ben Root, Elly & Will Stotz and Beatriz Fernandez-Medina; great grandson Brayden Root; and siblings Leonard “Ben” Geldin, Irene Fry and Wilma Walker.
Carolyn’s parents and brother, Arthur “Art” Geldin precede her in death.
Her family will be receiving friends Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont, 5-8 p.m. Memorial Services will be Saturday, 12:30 pm., at Grace Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Jody Rice will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made to ProMedica Memorial Hospice or to Grace Lutheran Church.
