Lifelong Helena resident, Janice Stricker,71, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at UTMC. She was born on July 6, 1945 in Fremont Sandusky County to the late Edward J. and Theresa (Sheets) Hoffman, the third of five children. Janice was a 1963 Gibsonburg High School graduate.
She was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Millersville and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fremont. Janice lovingly spent many hours knitting over 800 hundred caps for the charity Head Huggers, which donate them to adults and children with cancer.
Janice was a homemaker. She babysat children in her home and was a housekeeper for those people she held close to her heart. She married the two loves of her life, James Stricker and his son, Jamie. They were married for over 45 years and he survives in Helena. Also surviving is her son, James Jr. (Mary) Stricker of Helena; grandchildren, T.J., Kirsten, Jacob, Nathaniel, Katrina and Kallan; siblings, Jacqueline (Jim) Instone of Bowling Green, Judy (Jim) Redenbo of Toledo, Jim (Betty) Hoffman of Helena and Joseph F. Hoffman of Fremont.
Visitation will be held at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 23rd at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Millersville at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Jeff Sikorski will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
