Berthanne Ziemke, 99, of Fremont passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 at Valley View Health Care Center, Fremont. She was born on Oct. 5, 1917 in Norwalk to the late, Alfred & Lucy (Bodingheimer) Lamb.
As a 1935 graduate of Norwalk High School, Berthanne raised 5 children and was a homemaker. Later she worked for the Ohio State Unemployment Office.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Grace Lutheran Women’s Group. She was also a member of the Humane Society and the Stamm School Library. Berthanne was an avid bridge player and book reader; and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. In her younger years, she loved playing tennis & boating and fishing in Lake Erie with her husband.
Surviving are children, Jack (Hyon Cha) Ziemke of Olympia, WA, Patricia (Robert) Foreman of Cincinnati, Charles Ziemke of Charleston, SC, David (Nancy) Ziemke of Fremont and Nancy (Ken) Beckett of Norwalk; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin C. Ziemke who passed in 1988 and siblings, Gene Lamb, Charles Lamb and Hazel (Dennis) Miller.
Funeral Services will be Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont where Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Pastor Jody Rice will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Clyde.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
