Lifelong Fremont resident, Lois M. Schatt, 95, passed away Wednesday morning, Mar. 1, 2017 at Elmwood of Fremont.
Born in Fremont on Nov. 25, 1921, Lois was one of three children of Frederick and Leona (Wilson) Shilling. She graduated from Ross High, Class of 1940.
Lois was the beloved wife of Robert Schatt whom she married at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fremont on Nov. 15, 1942. They were together for over 72 years until his death on Jan. 31, 2015.
She leaves behind her bereaved children Dennis (Suzanne) and Sherry (Rick) Roach; 3 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband and siblings Isabell Nesbitt and Kenneth Shilling.
Lois worked as a homemaker, raising her children and caring for her home. She enjoyed this and was an excellent cook and baker. In her spare time, Lois was not only an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, but was a former Sunday School and VBS teacher for nearly 30 years and a former Scout Den Mother. She also participated in circles, Bible studies and made crafts with her husband for the St. John’s Bazaar.
The family respectfully requests no flowers but to send remembrances to the Lutheran World Relief, Easter Seals or to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be Saturday, Mar. 4, 2017, 10-11 a.m., at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. A Graveside Service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont. Lois’ son, Dennis, will officiate.
