Former Fremont resident, Frederick Dwight Zimmerman, 76, of Tiffin passed away at the St. Francis Home in Tiffin on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017.
Born in Fremont on Jan. 3, 1941, Fred was a son of Raymond Allsworth and Nellie Elizabeth (Spohr) Zimmerman.
In his younger years, Fred played guitar in the band known as “3 of a Kind.” He worked as an auto detailer for Al Baumann and attended The Church of the Nazarene while living in the Fremont area.
Prior to his move to St. Francis Home a few years ago, Fred lived at Charles Meadows Senior Apartments, Tiffin, OH. Since residing at the St. Francis Home, he became part of a large family of friends and caretakers. He still had a love for music. His last “gig” was on December 14, 2016 at the St. Francis Home. Fred helped provide the entertainment for the residents by singing and playing some guitar along with the “Harmonica Man”.
He lived a full life. He enjoyed joking around, and changing the sound of his voice to make someone smile or laugh.
Fred is survived by his St. Francis family, distant relatives and is preceded in death by his parents; sister Georgia Zimmerman-Geesey; and his girlfriend of many years, Barbara Miller.
Memorial contributions may be made to Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont in Fred’s memory.
Memorial Services will be held on March 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Francis Home Chapel, Tiffin. Local burial will be scheduled at a later date.
