Longtime Fremont resident and currently of Fostoria, Thomas F. Binkley, 79, passed away on Saturday March 4, 2017 at St. Catherine’s Manor of Fostoria. He was born on July 11, 1937 in Fremont to Franklin & Mary (Kuhn) Binkley.
Thomas attended Fremont schools and later joined The United States Marine Corps where he was Honorably Discharged in September of 1964.
On January 25, 1980, he married Elizabeth “Beth” Scherer. She survives him in Fostoria.
Thomas will be remembered as the Meat Department Manager for the former Great Scot Market in Potter Village, where he worked for over 40 years. He served as an officer for the former Fremont Moose Lodge and loved to fish.
He is survived by his wife, Beth; children, Leslie Halbisen of Fostoria, Joe (MarLana) Binkley of Norwalk and Cindie Binkley of Detroit; grandchildren, Carter, Mya & Michael “Mack” Binkley, Christian Hinson & Taryn Hampton; and siblings, Sue (Paul) Burmeister of Fremont, Mike (Sherri) Binkley of Albuquerque, NM and Patricia Raymond of WI.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents; son, Chuck Binkley; and siblings, Barb Haubert and Rose Shanahan.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 3-6 p.m. at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Funeral Services with Military Rites will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Pastor Joe Binkley and Pastor Eric Lapata will officiate.
