Abelardo “Lalo” Torres Saucedo, 92, of Hessville passed away Thurs. Mar. 9, 2017 at the home of his daughter in Findlay. Born on Mar. 10, 1924 in Nuevo Lion, Mexico to Fransisco and Trinidad (Torres) Saucedo, he was one day away from celebrating his 93rd birthday.
Lalo immigrated to the US on May 5, 1924. He married Paula Alaniz on Apr. 25, 1957 in Weslaco, TX. Together they raised a family and moved to Hessville. They enjoyed traveling over the US visiting family and loved dancing. Lalo worked all his life and retired from Conrail Railroad in 1989 after over 30 years of service.
Lalo was a devout member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Gibsonburg. He also became a Naturalized Citizen on Oct. 22, 2005.
Surviving are his children Sylvia (Tim) Arnold of Findlay, Cindy Saucedo of San Jose, CA and Joey (Lynnette) Saucedo of Marblehead; grandchildren Joey, Mia, Gage & Grayson Saucedo and Christina Arnold; step grandchildren Adam, Nicholas and Izabel; and siblings Frank Saucedo and Elida Salazar both of Gilroy, CA.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Paula who passed in Nov. 2002; and siblings Teresa Gonzales, Catalina Trevino, Sofia Cardenas and Guadalupe Saucedo.
Visitation will be held at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg on Wed., Mar 15, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. where a Vigil will be held in the evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Gibsonburg on Thurs., Mar. 16, 11:30 a.m.
Burial will follow at St. Lawrence/St. Michael Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Michael’s Catholic Church or Bridge Hospice, Findlay.
