Dale L. Balsizer, 94, of Gibsonburg passed away on April 7, 2017 at Windsor Lane Health Care Center. He was born on October 7, 1922 in Jackson Township, Sandusky County, to Elmer and Ferra (Rhinehart) Balsizer. He was a 1942 Graduate of Gibsonburg High School.
Dale and Neoma (Miesle) were married on June 1, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont. Neoma preceded him in death on May 7, 2000. Dale was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Gibsonburg.
He served his country in WWII in Europe receiving several medals for his service with Gen. George Patton. He was a member of the VFW and the Gibsonburg American Legion Post 17, a 70 year member.
He owned Dale Balsizer Construction. He built over 70 homes and completed numerous remodeling’s and other carpenter work. Later in his life Dale enjoyed going to Gibsonburg High School athletic events and working in his garden.
Dale is survived by his children, James (Linda) Balsizer, Gibsonburg, Jane Balsizer, Gibsonburg, Janine (Larry) Evener, Fort Myers, FL, Jonna Ottney, Fremont and Jeff (Patricia) Balsizer, Gibsonburg; sons-in-law, John Ehrhardt, Orlando, FL and Jerry Schumacher, Kansas, OH. There are also 18 grandchildren and 36 great- grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Neoma and daughters, Jacqueline Ehrhardt and Jean Schumacher; sister, Betty Williamson; brother, Robert, and son-in-law, David Ottney.
Friends and Family are welcomed to the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg on Tuesday, April 11 from 3-8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with an additional hour of visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Fr. Christopher Bazar will officiate. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
Memorials may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, the Gibsonburg Athletic Boosters or donor’s choice.
