Longtime Gibsonburg resident, Albert H. Damschroder, 95, passed away Saturday Apr. 15, 2017 at the Burton’s Ridge Assisted Living in Lima, OH.
Born on Jan. 14, 1922 in rural Gibsonburg, Albert was a son of Ray D. and Nellie (Driftmeyer) Damschroder. Albert was a 1940 graduate of Gibsonburg High School and was a lifelong farmer and sat on the Gibsonburg Farmer Elevator’s Board of Directors. He also worked as an insurance agent, representing the Woodville Mutual Insurance Agency. He retired in 1999.
As a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg, he took an active part in many of its events and organizations. Albert enjoyed woodworking and gardening in his spare time.
On May 26, 1945, he married Leola Gnepper in Lindsey. They were together for over 62 years until Leola’s passing on Oct. 29, 2007.
Surviving are their sons Rev. Robert (Janet) Damschroder of Findlay and Dr. Richard (Judith) Damschroder of Lima; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings Ward of Nevada, Ervin (Beth) Damschroder of Gibsonburg, and Thelma Henline of Fostoria.
Albert’s parents and siblings, Carl and Louis Damschroder, Ruth McCoy and Elsie Deininger precede him in death.
Visitation will be held Friday, Apr. 21, 2017, 4-8 p.m., at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Funeral Services will be Saturday, Apr. 22, 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Gibsonburg where there will be an additional hour of visitation being held prior to the start of the service. Pastor Max Ulderich will officiate. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery.
