Josefina Jaso, 80, of Gibsonburg passed away on Mon., May 15, 2017 at Mercy St. Charles, Toledo. She was born in Miquihuana, San Luis Potosi, Mexico on Aug. 27, 1936 to Pedro Maldonado and Consuelo Baez.
On Feb. 14, 1951, in Monroe, MI, she married Reynaldo Jaso. They shared 61 years together until his passing on May 31, 2012. Josefina was a loving homemaker for their children: Reynaldo Jaso, Jr. who is deceased, Carmen (Rey) Bosquez of Houston, TX, Raul (Maria) Jaso of Northwood, Rebecca (Alberto) Martinez of Houston, TX, Maria Elena (Andres) Zapata of Gibsonburg, Carolina Jaso of Millbury and Ustolia (Louie) Rook.
In addition to her 6 children, surviving are grandchildren: Rey, III and Danny Jaso; Raul, Jr., Rafael, and Reynaldo Rebollar; Michael, Raquel and Raul Alex Jaso; Noe, Selena and John Martinez; Noemi (Jose) Padron-Zapata, Andres Zapata, Jr. and Erica (Victor) Garcia; Sara Mendoza, Rosa and Cristina Martinez; Elizabeth, Ricardo, Cain, Issac, Jamie and Ben Escobedo, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and brother, Moises Hernandez of Gibsonburg.
Josefina enjoyed listening to music especially the song, “La Bamba” and dancing. She liked to spend time shopping, sewing, planting flowers and gardening. She was never without her favorite Sunkist Orange Soda. Josefina had a special place in her heart for her cat, Chula, going to church and praying the Rosary. Most of all she loved cooking and having everyone get together for family gatherings.
Visitation will be held at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg on Fri., May 19, 2017 from 3-8p.m. where a Vigil will be held at 7p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church on Sat., May 20 at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Christopher Bazar will officiate with the assistance of Deacon Rene Gonzalez. Burial will follow at St. Michael & Lawrence Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
