Francis Xavier Miller

Rural Tiffin resident, Francis Xavier Miller, 61, passed away Friday morning, June 16, 2017, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

Born in Tiffin on Nov. 7, 1955, he was one of ten children of Stanley A. and Mercedes (Hartenstein) Miller.  Francis graduated from Bettsville High School in 1974 and earned his Bachelor of Agricultural Science Degree from The Ohio State University in 1978.

Francis used his education working as a program technician with the USDA Farm Service Agency in Tiffin.  He kept himself busy on his own farm, helping with the family beekeeping and honey business, and making homemade wine.  He also was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Liberty as well as attending St. Michael Catholic Church in Gibsonburg.

Francis married the love of his life, Kristy, on Nov. 28, 1981 in Bascom.  Kristy survives.

Also surviving are his father, Stanley of Tiffin; children, Nicholas (Ashely) Miller of Austintown, OH, Monica Miller, and Jonathan Miller, both of Tiffin;  grandchildren, Layla, Gallifrey, and Nymphadora; siblings, Danita Podach of Forest, OH, Anthony (Kimberly) of Green Springs, Matthew (Christine) of Republic, Jerome (Laura) of Tiffin, Louise Miller of Wooster, Edward (Kathy) of Minot, ND; sister-in-law, Cathy Miller of Mingo Junction, OH; and siblings Timothy (Julie) of Medina and Maria (Aaron) Scherger of Tiffin.

Francis is preceded in death by his mother, Mercedes; and brother, Philip.

Visitation will be held at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg on Tuesday, June 20, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Michael Catholic Church, Gibsonburg on Wednesday, 10:30 a.m.  Committal Services will begin at St. Mary Cemetery, Millersville at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the OSU Agricultural Scholarship Fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
