Jeanne Snyder, 92, of Fremont, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at ProMedica Memorial Hospital, Fremont. She was born on May 21, 1925 in Fremont to William J. and Olivia C. (Heim) Rich. Jeanne was a 1943 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. She worked for Bill Snyder Insurance Service until her retirement in 1988.
Over the years Jeanne was a member of Soroptimist in Fremont. She delivered Mobile Meals for 15 years for Memorial Hospital, and was a volunteer in the gift shop at St. Francis Rehab Center, Green Springs.
Jeanne married Bill Snyder on June 16, 1948. They celebrated 64 years of marriage until Bill’s passing in 2012. Together they built a life of commitment to the catholic community.
Jeanne was a recipient of the Isabell of the Year Award, Knights of Columbus and the Soroptimist Women of Distinction Award. She was a member of the Cursillo and Serra International.
She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church being involved in its Renew Program, Bible study group, and RCIA. Jeanne was a Leader of Division #60 Rosary Society. Among other church ministries, she was a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound, and trained others to become Eucharistic Ministers.
Jeanne loved to knit, crochet, read many kinds of books, bake cookies and go for walks. She enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are children, Bonnie L. (Bill) Peiffer of Fremont, Margaret “Peg” (Tom) Smith of Bucyrus and William “Bill” (Sue) Snyder of Freeland, WA; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill, and siblings, Franklin (Jane) Rich, Robert (Rose) Rich, Paul (Anna Rose) Rich and Mary M. (Bill) Tischler.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 1-3 & 5-7 p.m. with a Vigil Service being held in the evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fremont at 10:00 a.m. with an hour visitation prior to the service starting at 9:00 a.m. Father Michael Zacharais will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to St. Joseph’s Church, Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools Sacred Heart Campus or to the American Heart Association.
