Arland W. Semer, 86, AKA- “Nick” or “Popeye”, of Toledo died on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born on February 9, 1931 in Bettsville to the late Charles A. & Opal I. (Blackburn) Semer.
Arland was a 1949 Fremont Ross graduate. He served in the Ohio National Guard. For 41 years, he worked for Columbia Gas, and in 1990, Arland retired from there as a Technical Operations Engineer.
He was a past President of the Fremont and Sandusky Lions Club, a member of the Masons and the Elks for over 50 years, a member of the Shriners, Port Clinton Moose, and The American Legion.
Arland shared 66 years of marriage with his wife, Laura J. Myers whom he married on June 11, 1951. For many years, they spent time with each other and their family on the lake where they would go boating from Cedar Point Marina.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Laura, is son, Steven (Melinda) Semer of Louden, TN and ex-daughter-in-law, Linda Semer of Casper, FL; grandchildren, Nicole (Monty) Coffman, Kimberly (Larry Olah) Semer and Heather (Matt) Semer Roy; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jerry L. Semer; siblings Robert A. Semer and Florene Fuller.

Friends and family are welcomed to Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont on Friday, July 7, 2017 where there will be a Graveside Service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
