Thomas Straka, 55, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July, 2, 2017 at the ProMedica Memorial Hospital, Fremont.
Tom was born on Sept. 5, 1961 in Fitchburg, MA and was a 1979 graduate of John Hayes High School in Cleveland. On Aug. 7, 1981, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Freeman in Strongsville, OH. He was currently working as a shift supervisor for GT Technologies in Toledo.
Tom was a known handyman and a collector of many things, including several John Deere lawn mowers. He was kind-hearted and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. As an outdoor and firearm enthusiast, he was a member of the NRA, the Sandusky County Sportsmen’s Club and enjoyed camping and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Kathleen are daughters, Kristin (Derrick) Shell of Clyde and Rachel (Jeremy) Wilhelm of Fremont; grandchildren Brendan & Madison Shell and Alayna & Hayley Wilhelm; father, Sonny (Delilah) Roller; step-father, Stephen Straka; siblings Greg (Kathleen) Roller, Rochelle (Chris) Roller, Sonni (Glenn) Cummings all of Alabama, Richard Straka of Columbus, OH and Laura (Gary) Robinson of Medina, OH;; mother-in-law, Iris (Al) Airey; father-in-law, Hugh (Louise) Freeman; and special friend and close uncle, Bill (Lynn) Straka.
Tom is preceded in death by his brother, Steve Straka.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be offered at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg on Saturday, July 15, 3-6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Tom’s grandchildren care of Kathleen.
