Fremont Resident Christina Ruth McCune, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Elmwood of Fremont. She was born on February 14, 1922 in Michiasport, ME to the late Rev. George Roderick & Marie (Redmon) MacDonald. For Christina, education was important. She graduated from Cavalier High School in ND, and then spent 2 years at Jamestown College in ND, 3 years at Mayo for Nurses, 1 year at Case Western Reserve, University School of Nursing where she received her Bachelors of Nursing Degree. After school, Christina entered the Reserves where she received military nurse training in Samson, NY. She then began teaching Medical and Surgical Nursing at Milwaukee Lutheran Hospital, and later she taught Med. Surg. Nursing at Mercy Hospital in Toledo. On August 5, 1948, she married Willis Russell McCune in Casselton, ND. Together they had 4 children, Rod (Polly) McCune of Fremont, Charlotte (Donald) Thompson of Parrish, FL, Susan (James) Nicodem of Batava, Il and Patti (Brad) Skiles of Warsaw, IN. In addition to her husband and children, also surviving are her 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren plus one of the way; and siblings, Rachel Undem of Circle, MT, and Sara Jane MacDonald of Sterling, KS. She is preceded in death by her brother John. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 19, 9-11 a.m. at Grace Community Church, Fremont where Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Forrest Kirchenbauer will officiate. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. at McGormley Cemetery, Fremont.
