James A. Provonsha, 88, of Fremont, passed away on August 9, 2017 at Riverview Nursing Home, Oak Harbor. He was born in Oak Harbor on February 14, 1929 to Andrew & Adeline (Chestnutwood) Provonsha. Jim attended Oak Harbor High School. On May 11, 1951, Jim married Donna Fought. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2014.
Jim served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War in 1951 and 1952. He was a brakeman and conductor for the ConRail Railroad until he retired in 1994. He was an excellent organist and loved to play for his grandchildren. Jim enjoyed vacationing in Florida during the winter and playing golf. He was also a member of the VFW.
Surviving are his 3 sons Jay (Beth) Provonsha and Jeff Provonsha both of Fremont and Joe (Lorna) Provonsha of Royal Oak, MI; grandchildren, Jeannie, Michelle, Kristan, Lauren, A.J. and Vicky; great-grandchildren Carley, Cayla, Daisy & Baby Enzleigh due in August.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Donna Jean (Fought); parents; sisters Virginia Fausnaugh & Faye Williams; brothers, Joe & Paul Provonsha.
Visitation will be held on August 18, 2017 at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 5-8 p.m. There will be a private funeral service for the family.
Memorials may be made to Stein Hospice.
