Marjorie V. Schwochow

Marjorie V. Schwochow, 86, of Fremont passed away with her family by her side on Friday, August 11, 2017 at her home. She was born on May 17, 1931 in Cincinnati to Frank and Helene (Mohn) Waugh.

Marjorie was a 1949 Fremont Ross High School graduate. For over 40 years she worked as the secretary for St. John’s Lutheran Church in Fremont. Marjorie also worked with her family at the Costume Holiday House.

On November 29, 1952, she married Leland Schwochow. They shared 47 years of marriage, and together they worked their fields embracing the farm life. Marjorie was a 4-H Advisor. She was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Not only was she the secretary there, but she taught Sunday School, and belonged to the Altar Guild and the Abigail Circle.

Surviving are her children, Linda (Mike) Shields of Waterville, Diane Schwochow of Fremont, Loren (Tawni) Schwochow of Fremont and Randal (Diana) Schwochow of Westlake; grandchildren, Kevin (Lori) Shields, Jordan (Kerry) Schwochow, Ashleigh Schwochow, Jeremy Schwochow and Nicholas Schwochow; 5 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Helene “Peg” (Ed) McConnell of Mt. Carmel, Gary (Diana) Waugh of Waterville and Shirley (Ed) Carlson of Port Clinton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland and parents, Frank and Helene Waugh.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation to be held at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor Matthew Wheeler will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or ProMedica Hospice.
