Susie A. Oberst

Susie A. Oberst (Michael), 89, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Valley View Health Campus. She was born on October 24, 1928 in Sandusky County to William & Amy (Homler) Michael.

Susie was a 1948 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. She was an inspector at Eaton Controls until her retirement in 1990.

On February 3, 1954 Susie had her only son, James, who preceded her in death in September 2013.

On May 28, 1966, Susie married Phillip Oberst, they shared 30 wonderful years of marriage.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Golden Threads, and the Senior Center. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, baking pies, and fishing. Susie had a love of horses and was a gifted equestrian. She was a true jack-of-all trades, even in her recent years. Most of all, she adored her great-grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.

Susie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Oberst; granddaughter, Ashley (Jason) Brish; great-grandchildren, Vincenza and James Brish; step-son, Phillip David Oberst; grandchildren, Chasity and Lauren Oberst; and beloved dog, Buster.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Phillip; son, James; sisters, Adeline Tittle, Lucy Burmeister and Dorothy Michael; and brothers, John, Oscar, Sherman, Claude, Wilburt, Earnest, Carl Michael.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, where Funeral Services will begin at 12 p.m. Pastor Matthew Wheeler will officiate. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Contributions in memory of Susie can be given to the Vincenza and James Brish Educational Trust Fund or St John's Lutheran Church, Fremont.

Ashley and Cheryl would like to give a special thanks to all of the extended family, especially Bev and Denny Michael, and Denny Jr. Michael for all of their love and care.
