Lyman Eugene Crawfoot, Sr., 89, of Gibsonburg, passed away on January 7, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg surrounded by his family. He was born on March 28, 1928 in Risingsun to Henry Lyman & Dorothy Florence (Venable) Crawfoot.
Lyman was a 1947 graduate of Woodville High School. In May of 1945, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was discharged in August of 1946. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force in January 1948 and was discharged in 1954. He was stationed in Japan, China, and Korea. Lyman fought in World War II and the Korean War.
Lyman worked at Atlas Industries as a tool maker and plant manager until his retirement in 1998. He was a life time member of the Sandusky County Sportsman’s Club, the NRA, the VFW Post 2947, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 712. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gunsmithing.
On June 11, 1994, Lyman married Elaine Spanfellner Kutzli in Pemberville; she survives. Also surviving are children, Lyman (Karen) Crawfoot Jr. of Gibsonburg, Mary (Larry Powers) Jurovick of Fremont, Cindy Kutzli Johnson of Rossford, and Cathy (Bruce Rutter) Kutzli of Bowling Green; Daughter-in-law, Sandy Crawfoot of Gibsonburg; grandchildren, Cameron Johnson, Alex Holcomb and Michael Jurovick; siblings, Charles Whitman of Columbus and Hargus “Tex” Whitman of Perrysburg; and Brother-in-law, William (Penny) Spanfellner of Berea, OH.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Charles Elmer Whitman; sons, Tom Crawfoot and Joseph Kutzli; grandchildren, Keith Kline, Michele Crawfoot and Edward Crawfoot; and siblings, Agnes Thomas and Ernest Whitman.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg on Thursday, January 11, 2018. Funeral Services and burial will be private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 2947, the Sandusky County Sportsman Club or to the donor’s choice.
