Constance "Connie" Fuchs

Fremont resident, Constance “Connie” Fuchs, 79, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 in the emergency room of Fremont ProMedica.

Connie was born on Nov. 18, 1938 in Napoleon, OH, a daughter of William and Jeannette (Kenning) Wiechers.  She graduated from Napoleon High School in 1956, the Fort Wayne Lutheran School of Nursing in 1959 where she was Class President, and later received her Bachelor’s Degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa in 1961.

She married Paul Fuchs of Tripoli, Iowa on June 4, 1961 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon.  They were married over 38 years until Paul’s passing on Aug. 29, 1999.

Connie was a former President of Hayes PTO, a volunteer at Lutheran Social Services, delivered Mobile Meals, served on the Synod Candidacy Commission, and was a donor of 132 pints of blood at the American Red Cross.  She worked as a school nurse, Director of Nursing at Parkview Care Center and was very involved at Grace Lutheran Church where Paul, her husband, was Pastor for 23 years.

Surviving are children, Beth (Bill) Lange of Cincinnati, Amy Haitonic and Meg Fuchs both of Fremont, and Philip (Wendy) Fuchs of Chardon, OH; six grandchildren, Erich & Kurt Lange, Rachel & Eliot Haitonic, and Julia & Paulina Fuchs; and sisters Susan Hernandez of Napoleon and Jan Hockman of Athens, GA.

Visitation will be at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.  Funeral Services will be Friday, Jan. 26, 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Fremont where visitation will begin at 9 a.m.  Burial will be later that day at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Napoleon.

Memorial donations may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church or to the Rutherford B. Hayes Memorial Museum for a purchase of a trail bench.
