Alice Ellenberger

Alice J. Ellenberger, 90, of Fremont passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Elmwood Assisted Living. She was born on April 10, 1927 in Sidney, OH to Garret and Mary (Neth) Clawson.

Alice graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1945. On July 19, 1947 she married the love of her life, Wilson “Ace” Ellenberger, sharing 64 years of marriage together before Ace passed on August 1, 2011. Alice owned Poly Clean Laundromat with her husband from 1964-2008, where she enjoyed working until her retirement in 2007. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing bingo.

Surviving are her children, Sharon (Joe) Wilson of Clyde, Mary (Richard) Colombini of Westerville, OH, Tim (Kim) Ellenberger of Fremont; grandchildren, Aaron (Shanna) Wilson, Tara Wilson, Andrea (Kyle) Kegley, Blair (Brittany) Ellenberger, Emma (Dan) Rork, and Lizzy (Darien) Spann; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Rohr and Carol Clawson.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilson; and siblings, Virginia Matson, Rich, Don, Bill, Pete, and Russ Clawson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with an additional hour of visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Pastor Forrest Kirchenbauer will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Contributions in Alice’s name may be made to a local charity of the donor’s choice.
