Grace Irene (Stults) Hutchinson, 98, passed away peacefully at the Genoa Care Center on Sunday, June 3, 2018. She was born on Jan. 14, 1920 to Elvin and Dorothy (Taylor) Stults in Madison Township, Sandusky County, Ohio in the same home where she resided for over 95 years of her life. She graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1937. Later, on June 1, 1941, Grace married John Hutchinson of rural Woodville at the former Garfield Memorial Church of Christ in Gibsonburg. They were together for over 65 years until his death on June 5, 2006.
Grace was an active and dedicated member of the Garfield Memorial Church of Christ in Gibsonburg, where she taught Sunday school, and played both the piano and organ, and served many years as church secretary. She was a dedicated Christian who looked forward to the second coming of her savior, Jesus Christ.
In earlier years Grace was an active member of the County Farm Bureau young couples group, Gibsonburg Etudier Club and the Gibsonburg Women’s Federation. In mid-life she served as a Gibsonburg rural mail carrier and became an active, dedicated member and genealogist in the Sandusky County Kin Hunters Club. Ancestors played an important role throughout her life. She accumulated and organized extensive lineage on every branch of her relatives. Grace routinely was sought by, advised and assisted people across the country in their own research efforts.
Grace cherished her home and small farm life as a third generation owner, tending a large vegetable garden with her husband and enjoyed her many flowers, shrubs, and the fields of grain that flourished there.
She leaves behind her daughters Anne (Frank) Pokorny of Chapel Hill, NC and Janet (Patrick) Perry of Woodville; sister, Ruth Donnell of Perrysburg; and three generations of nieces and nephews.
Those beloved family members who have preceded her in death are her parents, Elvin and Dorothy Stults; step-mother, Roma-rose (Callihan) Stults; husband, John; infant son Robert; and daughter Carol.
