Hulda M. “Pansy” Nickel, 86, of Fremont, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 7, 1932 in Oak Harbor to Reinhart and Letha (Shriver) Wendt.
Pansy graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1950. On March 10, 1950, she married her best friend, Wayne Nickel in Oak Harbor. They celebrated 56 wedding anniversaries before his passing on March 22, 2006. Pansy worked as a cashier for several years at Fremont Ross High School until her retirement in 1992. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont until its closing, where she was a bible school and Sunday school teacher, a member of the women of the church circle, and helped prepare bereavement luncheons. Pansy then became a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She loved to read and watch her hummingbirds. Pansy enjoyed gardening her flowers and going out to eat with her friends and family.
Surviving is her son, Rick (Darlene) Nickel of Graytown; grandchildren, Ricky Jr. (Kim), Jamie (Jessica), Justin (Chelsea), and Douglas (Tawny); great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Serenity, Dalton, Audrey, Logan, Brynnlie, Daisley and a new baby boy; step-grandchildren, Renzo, Italie, Emily, Kara, Cason and Haylie; twin sister, Dorothy Biggert and many nieces and nephews.
Pansy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; brother, Louis Wendt; and grandparents, William & Louissa Wendt and Benjamin & Letha Shriver.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 3-8 p.m. at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to services. Pastor Juli Lejman-Guy will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Williston Luther Home of Mercy or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
