Carl “Cal” Balsizer, 65, of rural Gibsonburg, passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, succumbing to injuries he suffered in an auto accident which also claimed the lives of both his wife, Lisa Anne, and oldest daughter, Callie Rae, on August 3.
Cal was born on Jan. 8, 1953 in Fremont to the late Ray and Lois (Andecover) Balsizer. He graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1971, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. For over 46 years, he worked for Chrysler Auto in Perrysburg. He was co-owner of the former Tim & Cal’s Place, currently Kate & Al’s. Cal enjoyed farming, hunting, bowling, and his job at Chrysler.
On July 4, 1994, he married Lisa Anne Savage in Gibsonburg.
Surviving is his daughter, Jessica “Jake” Balsizer of Gibsonburg and most recently of Alabama; mother-in-law, Mildred Legas of Monroe; first cousin, James “Jim” (Nancy) Stout; and best friends, Charlie Nopper and Billy Z.
Cal is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lisa; daughter, Callie; and siblings, Diane and Donna Balsizer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of Jessica.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, 2-8 p.m., at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg, OH. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sat., Aug. 25, 11:00 a.m. at Ole Zim’s Wagon Shed, 1375 S.R. 590, Gibsonburg where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Pastor Blair Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
